This article focuses on the false news and statistics related by FOX News regarding Pakistan, and will logically disprove them, and analyze the REASONS and hidden MOTIVES behind their false claims.
On 13th July, Fox news published an article “No. 1 Nation in Sexy Web Searches? Call it Pornistan”
The link to the article is here:
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2010/07/12/data-shows-pakistan-googling-pornographic-material/
The following extracts from the article show the theme of their report:
The Muslim country (Pakistan) (…) is the world's leader in online searches for pornographic material, FoxNews.com has learned.
Pakistan is top dog in searches per-person for "horse sex" since 2004, "donkey sex" since 2007, "rape pictures" between 2004 and 2009, "rape sex" since 2004, "child sex" between 2004 and 2007 and since 2009, "animal sex" since 2004 and "dog sex" since 2005, according to Google Trends and Google Insights, features of Google that generate data based on popular search terms.
The country also is tops -- or has been No. 1 -- in searches for "sex," "camel sex," "rape video," "child sex video" and some other searches that can't be printed here.
In brief, the following points can easily disprove the accuracy of their so-called statistics. (DON’T FORGET TO SEE THE LAST POINT)
Let’s have a look at the following screenshots from Google Trends showing the top searchers of a few keywords mentioned above.
It can be seen that the top country is stated as Pakistan but none of its cities are in the top list. That is CONTRADICTORY.
For the country to be on No. 1, atleast one of its cities should be in the top list.
The major cities of Pakistan where internet is used are: Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Multan and Faisalabad, and these account for almost half of the total 8 million internet users of Pakistan (Roughly 5 % of total population of the country has internet access)
If any of these cities is not among the top ones, it is not possible for the country to be in the top list.
-----------
“Google officially denied the accuracy of its search trends that declared Pakistan as the top nation searching for illicit material on the internet, according to Dawn sources.
In an email sent to dawn.com on Saturday, Therese Lim who works for Google’ communications and Public Affairs Southeast Asia team said, “We do our best to provide accurate data and to provide insights into broad search patterns, but the results for a given query, such as those reported in this story from Pakistan, may contain inaccuracies because the sample size is too small for the results to be statistically sound.”
-------
3. Let’s suppose Pakistan is on top of the list for searching all the filthy stuff on Google.
This would DEFINITELY imply that the top few results of Google on the searches on these keywords should have MAXIMUM Pakistani traffic, but this is not the case.
By typing the keywords on Google, and searching the statistics of the respective results in Alexa Web Information Company (www.alexa.net), I obtained the following “un-shocking” results.
The top few websites of the keyword “horse sex” on Google have highest internet traffic from India and USA (which is much indicated from Google Trends city results on the keyword).
Similarly, for “Dog Sex”, UK stood First and USA stood second.
For the keyword “Animal sex”, the results are below:
The same can be found for the various other absurd accusations on Pakistan made by FOX News.
CONCLUSION and LAST WORDS:
FOX News has knowingly used incorrect statistics and tried to disgrace Pakistan in the face of the world. The reality is that the US is the top PRODUCER, and top VIEWER of (filthy) porn. They try to blame the Pakistanis for searching such stuff, but do they think their own country is very noble even after PRODUCING such stuff??
The style and way the article is written is offensive and intolerable.
Just look at their opening line: “They may call it the "Land of the Pure," but Pakistan turns out to be anything but.”
This is CLEARLY a taunt meant to enrage the Muslim population of Pakistan. The remaining article also bears a sarcastic style and message.
Above all, MOCKING the name of Pakistan is the most infuriating and insulting thing to do on an INTERNATIONAL PLATFORM.
"In addition to banning content on 17 websites, including islamexposed.blogspot.com, Pakistan is monitoring seven other sites -- Google, Yahoo, Bing, YouTube, Amazon, MSN and Hotmail -- for anti-Islamic content, the Associated Press reported in June."
This line means to publicize (subconsciously) the anti-islamic accursed site islamexposed.
The site takes PORTIONS of hadith and Quranic Ayaat and try to manipulate them and present them in a way that shows them as if promoting terrorism in the minds of Muslims.
"The country’s punishment for those charged with blasphemy is execution, but the question remains what -- if anything -- can be done about people who search for porn on the Web."
This line (in it's first part) tries to make the international community think that Muslims are extremists and cruel. The writer could've written only the second part but it's obvious that the first line was intentional, and full of purpose.
Muslims are neither cruel, nor evil. Islam is a religion of peace. Anyone who looks at the right places will know it and there is no need to emphasize it here.
The writer has tried to punish Pakistan for being a Muslim state, for being a nuclear power and also for imposing the ban on Facebook in May this year (This is also evident from the style of the writer, as this point has been extra-over-emphasized) The mockery is certainly to show Pakistan in bad light as a part of the propaganda their media is doing since several years (Calling Muslim states terrorists and accusing them unfairly. They lie big, and retreat slowly, e.g. US claiming that Iraq had WMD’s and giving out BIG news on the TV, after destroying Iraq and taking millions of lives, they just give a TINY strip on TV saying that no WMD’s were found) They’re doing very well in spoiling the image of Muslims worldwide and certainly need a spotlight on their own condition. If nuclear weapons in the hands of Muslim states are unsafe, they should remember that US is the ONLY nation who ever USED a nuclear missile. What a shame, terrorists accusing others for terrorism and porn producers accusing others of searching for porn!
Keeping the above facts in mind, we shall conclude with the last line from the false article of Fox News:
“It’s a new phenomenon,”
